From family based growers in the Riverland through to the citrus packing shed, Venus Citrus carefully manages the process of providing the highest quality citrus on the market place.
P. Costi and Sons trading as Venus Citrus is a third generation family owned and run business who has been packing and marketing citrus since 1977. Citrus is retailed under the Venus brand on the domestic and export markets.

One Man's Dream
Peter Costi moved to Loxton in 1973 from Sydney, he decided that the big city was no longer what he wanted and was looking for another place to settle. After visitng a friend in Loxton he fell in love with the Riverland, the serene surroundings and the beautiful River Murray which supplies water to the fruit bowl of SA and towns along Victoria and NSW. It wasn't long before he moved to the Riverland with his family.
Peter soon established himself as a citrus grower and soon after that started packing his own fruit and selling it on a grower stand at the Melbourne market.
His dream and his passion were to develop his own market brand that would be known for its reliability and quality and be sought after on the export and domestic market.
In 1977 a citrus packing shed on Gratwick Raod went on the market and he was soon to purchase it and there he started his company, P. Costi and Sons followed by registering his brand name Venus Citrus.
The name 'Venus Citrus' came from his home land the island of Cyprus which is known as the Island of Venus.

His dream came true
Peter Costi's dream is now a reality, with the third generation family business still operating at the Gratwick Road site.
Over the years there has been a lot of growth with the company now boasting the latest machinery technologies.
They export to over 20 countries around the world and has a presence in almost all capital cities in Australia.
The Venus brand is one of the top recognised brands for its quality and consistency.
